Facilitates ten regional Hunger Councils that are led by community leaders and engage community members, leaders, and service providers to learn about an to end hunger in their communities.

Provides primary health care, as well as prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness. Services include primary medical care such as physical health examinations, immunizations, acute and chronic health screenings, obstetric care, laboratory testing, and birth control counseling. Provides onsite integrated health services to enhance access to appropriate prevention, treatment, recovery and wellness services and activities. Pediatric primary care is staffed by specialists who are concerned with the physical, emotional and social health of infants, children and adolescents from birth to young adulthood.

Provides tax information and assistance with tax filing preparation and e-filing of federal and state income tax returns, as well as assistance with filing for renters' rebates and homestead declarations at three locations. Also provides services for those filing basic self-employment returns (sole proprietors who do not carry inventory or depreciation).

Provides primary police services for approximately 200 Vermont towns out of 10 barracks throughout the state. Troopers perform traditional police services of traffic enforcement and the investigation of crimes, and also enforce snowmobile and recreational boating laws.

Provides in-home visitation by a registered nurse to women during pregnancy and following delivery for a mutually agreed upon period of time. Services provided to the family during this time are decided upon in partnership with the family and are particular to each family's needs and desires. Services may include healthy pregnancy information, prenatal nutrition counseling, early childhood development information, parenting education, home safety information, as well as referrals to healthcare, childcare, continuing education, job training, and other community support services.

Provides treatment services in a 24-hour, supervised, drug and alcohol-free, community-based residential facility. Services include medically monitored detoxification, individual counseling, group therapy, educational groups, self help groups, family sessions and aftercare planning.

Offers a 12 Step recovery program for individuals affected by someone’s else’s gambling. Also provides information about dates, times, and locations of meetings.

Provides a crisis intervention program that offers face-to-face recovery coaching to individuals admitted to Rutland Regional Medical Center Emergency Department.

Provides shelter for animals who have been abandoned, abused or surrendered by their owners. Services include animal adoption, pet food pantry, spay/neuter services, community education about pet care, and reporting of cruelty and neglect of animals to local authorities.

Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be placed in a Public Inebriate Program bed, a safe alternative to incarceration for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxification.

Provides individualized outpatient substance use assessment and treatment services for individuals who are dependent upon, or at risk of becoming dependent upon, alcohol or other substances. Also provides family substance use counseling for families dealing with adolescent substance use issues and provides group treatment services for adolescents. Provides information about alcohol and drug use, the effects on individuals, families and communities, as well as information to the public about strategies for prevention and early intervention.

Provides trained volunteers who offer non-medical assistance to hospice patients and their families. Assistance includes companionship, personal care, assistance with daily living, transportation. Additional services include provision of vigil sitters who provide a loving presence during the last days of life, respite for caregivers, and bereavement follow-up support.

Provides rescue services to dogs at risk, placing them in foster homes and ultimately connecting them to adoptive households. Offers education and training to individuals and families on behavior modification, pet care, and pet owner responsibilities. Also provides volunteer opportunities, including fostering. Does not provide a shelter; rescued animals are fostered in private homes. Offers a Senior to Senior Program matching older adults with older dogs.

Offers new and used clothing, furniture, and household goods. Vouchers are available through other Listen programs.

Instruction is provided at six learning centers, as well as at job sites, libraries, and other locations. Services include the following: Functional Literacy Education (Reading, Writing, Math), Computer Literacy, English Language Learning, High School Completion Program, General Education Development (GED) Credentialing, and Career and College Readiness.

Provides comprehensive cancer-related treatment in a research-based, clinical care environment. Services include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgical treatment, and palliative care for individuals with cancer. Also researches cancer causes, prevention, cures, and treatments.

Educates the public about alternative, renewable energy sources, promotes investment in clean, safe renewable energy, and works to reduce toxic threats to the environment and human health throughout the state. VPIRG is also the lead advocacy agency for accuracy in labeling, requiring clear and specific disclosure of all ingredients, including genetically modified organisms (GMOs), that go into the production of food being sold in Vermont.

Offers secondary school students the opportunity to earn up to 6 college credits while still enrolled in high school. Classes may be online or in-person.

Provides a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities.

Provides confidential, client-directed assistance in gaining information and access to government and community programs, including housing, transportation, Meals on Wheels, congregate meals, 3SquaresVT (food stamps), Medicaid, health-care insurance, rebates, adult day services, hoarding issues, and mental health services. Options Counseling is also available to enable older adults to maintain independence. Maintains a regional listing of in-home assistance providers available to assist seniors with continuing to live independently at home.

Provides racial, social, environmental, and economic justice workshops to schools, community groups, private businesses, local governments, and private individuals. Additionally, The Peace & Justice Center (PJC) offers speakers, films, workshops, and annual events.

Helps Vermonters with disabilities to find and keep meaningful employment. HireAbility VT works closely with employment specialists at Supported Employment Programs who provide a wide range of services designed to teach necessary skills, help a person transition into a job, and ensure that employers meet the needs of their employees.

Allows for an individual or organization that receives Social Security and/or SSI payments and who cannot manage their own money to name a representative to assist with direct management of their benefits. The Social Security Administration assists individuals in finding a representative payee, as well as manages the application process for individuals and organization looking to become representative payees.

Provides management and surveillance of wildlife diseases including rabies, avian influenza, and chronic wasting disease. Offers a Vermont-specific rabies hotline in partnership with the Vermont Department of Health. Responds to questions and concerns about nuisance wildlife.
