Provides a program that empowers Vermonters to lead healthier lives through hands-on nutrition education. The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is usually a six-session series held in home, school, or community settings. An online nutrition education series, Eat Smart, Move More, is also offered and participants can access lessons at their own pace while receiving one-on-one support from their closest EFNEP Educator via phone calls, zoom meetings, and emails. Topics covered may include meal planning and preparation, food budgeting with a limited income, food safety and preservation, and nutrition tips.

Administers the Meals on Wheels program. Registers and enrolls eligible individuals for meals and coordinates delivery schedules with volunteers. Meals are fully cooked and delivered refrigerated for reheating. Special diets are accommodated.

Provides contact information for all Vermont State's Attorneys who charge and prosecute individuals, including juvenile. Each county in Vermont has an elected State's Attorney, responsible for prosecution of cases.

Handles cases including evictions, foreclosures, breach of contract, land disputes, orders of protection for victims of stalking and sexual assault, medical malpractice, personal injury, and wrongful death. The Civil Division also includes Small Claims Courts, in which individuals represent themselves in disputes involving damages of $5,000 or less. Appeals from the Probate Division are heard in the Civil Division. Also may provide passport application service.

Provides an online scam tracking map as well as a helpline for individuals to report scams and fraud, and to see what has been reported in their area. Also provides fraud prevention resources such as tip sheets, podcast, and videos on how scams work and how to recognize and avoid common scams.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items may be available depending on donations. Also offers holiday assistance which comes in the form of a gift card to the local supermarket.

Pursues the preservation and protection of endangered land resources from indiscriminate development. Partners with local and statewide conservation organizations to conserve Vermont lands for the future. Conservation efforts include acquisition of development rights transferred through conservation easements for Vermont farms, working forest projects, and community projects. Also offers an online directory of conserved land open to the public for recreational trails.

Provides in-home pediatric care with skilled nursing, therapies, and specific procedures. Provides physical therapists to do growth and development assessments, to establish exercise routines, to monitor progress, and to assist families with obtaining adaptive equipment. Also offers support and information to parents and family members who have previously experienced the loss of an infant.

Provides information about asbestos and lead health risks and Vermont regulations. Includes details on how to test for lead or asbestos, and what you need to know before starting a renovation, repair, or demolition. Also provides an online form to report a concern about the mishandling of asbestos or lead-containing materials.

Provides rehabilitative therapies including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology to help individuals recovering from surgery, stroke, or illness. Also provides pediatric rehabilitative therapies.

Provides wellness information to community members that may include the following: activity and exercise, stress reduction, disease-related support groups, chronic disease self-management, fall prevention, CPR and first aid instruction. Provides Healthier Living Workshops for individuals living with chronic diseases and long term health issues to improve their health and well-being through participation in group exercise activities and health education classes.

Works with households to resolve emergencies involving home heat and electrical disconnection notices using programs and funds available and helping with applications. Electric heat assistance is limited to households with primary heat source of electricity or electricity that is essential to keeping other types of heating systems operational. The Wood Warms Program provides two free cords of wood to eligible households that heat entirely with wood or that supplement their primary heat source by burning wood.

Lends durable medical equipment including manual wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, bed-side commodes, and shower seats.

Provides a pet food pantry of dry and wet cat and dog food. Also offers pet toys, dishes, and other supplies. Occasionally has food for small animals and birds. Welcomes donations of pet food and pet supplies.

Provides business counseling and technical assistance to individuals who are starting, expanding, or enhancing a small business. Services include one-to-one technical assistance in business plan development, marketing materials, and financial management.

Provides a traveling dental trailer staffed by professionals offering comprehensive dental hygiene care that includes dental cleanings, screenings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, and sealants.

Provides post-permanency services including in-home adjusted parent education, consultation to treatment teams and advocacy, referrals to community resources, general adoption information, and kinship placements support.

Provides a voluntary, confidential alternative to the regular court process, which allows selected offenders the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions and make amends to victims and to the community. The offender meets before a Community Review Board that creates an individualized contract. The contract attempts to repair the harm done to the community and the victim. Upon completion of the contract, the charge is dismissed. Two years later the record is sealed.

Provides free services to people who have disabilities that affect their ability to get jobs, keep them, or advance in their careers. Counselors and specialists in 12 district offices work together with an extensive network of partners to help participants assess their interests and skills, explore career options, obtain career-focused training, and secure jobs and career advancement.

Responds to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect, and helps parents get the services and supports they need. Vermont Department for Children and Families Family Services Division (DCF/FSD) is also responsible for placing children in temporary out-of-home care when necessary to keep them safe, working with parents and relatives toward children's safe return home, and finding permanent homes for children who can't return home safely. The program provides a hotline number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Social workers who answer the line take reports, conduct investigations, assess families, and make recommendations for services to alleviate family stress and improve parenting skills.

Sells new and gently used furniture, building supplies, appliances, tools, housewares, clothings and home improvement products. The Franklin Grand Isle Habitat Warehouse Store accepts donations of used vehicles for scrap. Proceeds help to fund area Habitat for Humanity.

Provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient care and 24-hour emergency care. Services include 24-hour physician staffed emergency room services, diagnostic imaging, general medical and surgical services, lab testing, blood supply services, hospital-based outpatient services, disease specific treatment, pain management, and adult and children's services
