Partners with local and statewide conservation organizations to conserve Vermont lands for the future. Conservation efforts include acquisition of development rights transferred through conservation easements for Vermont farms, working forest projects, and community projects. Also offers an online directory of conserved land open to the public for recreational trails.

Services include screening intake, assessment, treatment planning, methadone maintenance and medically supervised withdrawal, counseling services, case management and referral, medical services for opioid disorder, discharge planning, and follow-up.

Also administers 50/50 grants of up to $20,000 that are available for the restoration and repair of historic agricultural structures, including barns, and Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants of up to $10,000 toward local preservation projects. Also offers tax credits for historic commercial buildings and maintains an online list of other potential funding sources for historic preservation projects.

Provides centralized coordination of substance use treatment and recovery services via a statewide, confidential resource information and referral line, an online self-screening tool, and online resource directory for finding substance use treatment facilities and recovery support services. Trained specialists help callers understand the treatment system and their options. Referrals are made to appropriate available resources.

Provides a fee-based energy efficiency service. Trained staff provide a comprehensive energy audit, including diagnosis of energy problems due to air infiltration, heating and cooling loss, or inefficient household systems. Also provides a list of solutions, and an estimate of material costs and predicted benefits and savings for each recommended efficiency measure.
