FIA specializes in "open" adoptions, where birth parents may have contact to some degree with the adoptive family, but also handles closed adoptions. Provides a safe, healthy, adult-supervised place where youth can spend time with peers. Youth Center program offerings range from recreational to educational to professional development services. Youth Center activities include homework help, job assistance, mentoring, community service hours, video games, ping-pong, and field trips.

Provides a free community legal clinic eight times a year staffed by volunteer Vermont attorneys.

Provides local bus service to general public and accommodates qualified riders with deviated routes. The Diamond Express provides additional public bus service during the winter season between Rutland and the Killington resort area.

Provides safe places to leave a baby anonymously and legally. A parent or his or her designee can bring a baby up to 30 days old to any Safe Haven in Vermont without fear of being arrested or charged as long as the baby has not been abused or neglected. To be covered by the Baby Safe Haven Law, the baby must be handed IN PERSON to a volunteer or employee of a Safe Haven. THE BABY CANNOT BE LEFT ALONE. A Safe Haven is any fire or police station, health care facility, place of worship, adoption agency licensed in Vermont, or a place that an emergency responder contacted through 9-1-1 agrees to meet the parent or person acting on the parent's behalf.

Provides harm reduction kits and personal hygiene supplies including diapers, period products, and other personal care items. Residents encouraged to take what they need and/or donate what they can.

Offers individualized academic tutoring in English Language Learning (ELL), U.S. Citizenship test preparation, literacy and other subject skills (math, college support) for adult students. Also provides classes and programs in personal growth and self development.

Provides representation to juveniles in delinquency proceedings, and to parties in juvenile proceedings including children in need of care and supervision (CHINS) and termination of parental rights cases. Victims in these cases are contacted and offered ways to participate in whatever way is comfortable for them. Provides advice and guidance on how to identify and prevent bed bugs; information about diseases spread by ticks, including Lyme; information about mosquito-borne illnesses, including EEE, Zika, and West Nile; and information on the prevention, symptoms, and transmission of Mpox and rabies.

Responds to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect, and helps parents get the services and supports they need. Vermont Department for Children and Families Family Services Division (DCF/FSD) is also responsible for placing children in temporary out-of-home care when necessary to keep them safe, working with parents and relatives toward children's safe return home, and finding permanent homes for children who can't return home safely. The program provides a hotline number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Social workers who answer the line take reports, conduct investigations, assess families, and make recommendations for services to alleviate family stress and improve parenting skills.

Facilitates dialogue related to neighborhood and community issues. Professional mediation services help community members talk about and find solutions to their conflicts, which may involve such issues as noise, pets, boundaries, and landlord-tenant disputes.

Offers take out breakfast and early lunch weekdays. All participants seeking food relief services are screened for possible USDA food assistance programs and 3SquaresVT eligibility. The program also offers a take-out Thanksgiving meal on the day before Thanksgiving.

Offers a series of health-related workshops and presentations for the community, many of which are offered by health professionals. Information about local wellness programs is provided on line and is also published in flyer form. Pays a portion of home heating bills for households meeting income eligibility requirements. Seasonal Fuel Assistance is not designed to cover all of the costs of heating a home or apartment. Active Seasonal Fuel households are eligible for free weatherization services.
