Alerts include information about disasters, weather advisories, fire advisories, traffic bulletins, road closures bulletins, Amber Alerts, product safety alerts, hazardous materials advisories, and public health notifications. Individuals are able to choose receipt of alerts for the entire state or for specific areas within Vermont that they wish to be contacted about, such as their home locations, their relatives' home locations and their places of employment.

Investigates claims of unlawful discrimination in housing, places of public accommodation, and state government employment. A place of public accommodation is any school, restaurant, store, establishment or other facility at which services, facilities, goods, privileges, advantages, benefits or accommodations are offered to the general public. This also includes most hospitals, professional offices (such as doctors, dentists, lawyers, and accountants), retail stores, inns, hotels, and schools. The Commission does not represent or advocate for either the individual who makes the complaint (complaintant) or the individual or entity against whom a petition is filed (respondent). If the Commission accepts a case for investigation, it may provide an independent mediator to seek an informal resolution to the dispute. If mediation does not result in a mutually agreed upon resolution, a member of the Commission's staff will investigate. The Commission does not provide legal advice. The complaintant and respondent may have attorneys to advise and represent them throughout the process, but an attorney is not required.

Provides advice, referrals, or assistance with many types of civil legal problems. Types of assistance include relief from abuse, evictions, foreclosures, public benefits problems, housing, discrimination, and debt collection issues. May also be assisted with representing themselves in court and referrals to lawyers or other agencies.

Provides an intensive outpatient counseling program for people who receive Medicaid. This short-term program includes evening group sessions, weekly individual sessions, and peer coaching.

Provides individualized outpatient mental health and/or substance use disorder assessment and treatment services for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use issue. Also provides family, couples, and group mental health or substance use disorder counseling for families dealing with adolescent substance use disorder issues and provides group treatment services for adolescents.

Offers wellness, fitness, and fall prevention programs that may include classes in yoga, strength training, and tai chi. The Secrets of Healthy Aging, a twice monthly facilitated discussion group that is followed by a social pot luck lunch is currently on hold until further notice.

Provides youth employment services that include vocational testing and assessment to help identify skills, talents and experience; career guidance to help plan and map out a career strategy; tutoring and study skills training; summer employment opportunities; paid work experience including internships and job shadowing; leadership development opportunities; and support services to help overcome employment barriers.
