Provides rental assistance to help individuals live in safe and decent housing of their choice.

Provides a safe, accommodating, and child-friendly space for victims, as well as a neutral, non-threatening space for investigators, victim advocates, and prosecutors to interview and meet with victims. Victim advocacy services provide support to assure that victims are supported throughout the entire process. Neutral, non-threatening space is provided for provision of therapy to children and non-offending family members if DCF has substantiated that sexual abuse has occurred.

Provides limited funding for homemaker, adult day, case management, and ‘flexible fund’ services to people who do not meet nursing home level of care criteria, but require some services to assist them to remain independent in their home, preventing a more intense level of service. The intent is to prevent or delay the need for more costly long-term services and supports by providing these services. The Moderate Needs services are limited by available funds.

Administers the Meals on Wheels program. Registers and enrolls eligible individuals for meals and coordinates delivery schedules with volunteers. Meals are fully cooked and delivered refrigerated for reheating. Special diets are accommodated.

Provides, promotes, and protects access to reproductive health care and sexuality education so all people can make voluntary choices about their reproductive and sexual health.

Provides emergency housing in a motel or hotel.

Provides an educational website for parents, educators and caregivers who wish to learn about drug information.

Coordinates mutual support groups whose members are families and friends of people who have attempted suicide or died by suicide. Meetings focus on helping participants overcome feelings of helplessness and responsibility for the actions of the individual so they can express their grief, move through the bereavement process, and put their lives back together.

Provides fast track medical services to individuals who have minor medical problems that do not require complex diagnostic work, including colds, flu, infections, muscle strains and sprains, cuts, insect stings and bites, rashes and stomachaches. Services include common immunizations, sports and school physicals, lab testing and x-rays.

Provides daily scheduled public bus service via the Blue Line, Red Line, and White Line routes.

Provides a variety of core services in the communities it serves, including emergency support and assistance. Services include problem-solving support, assistance accessing resources, prejob guidance, employment goal setting, budget counseling, tenant-landlord mediation, community food shelf services, and emergency assistance with other basic needs such as utility payment assistance and housing. Also provides assistance with filling out benefit program applications and other forms.

Offers a home visit to provide information on emergency preparedness including development of a family disaster plan, and suggesting changes in the home to increase fire resistance. May provide and install smoke alarms at no cost to eligible individuals.

Provides short-term assistance such as security deposit, first month's rent, rent subsidy (up to three months), or back rent to prevent eviction.

Provides free college courses for Vermont Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and Vermonters who are incarcerated, including textbooks and fees.

Addresses complaints regarding housing discrimination, mobile and manufactured homes, deceptive contractors, issues with poor maintenance, health and safety risks. Also handles complaints about mismanagement and fraud on the part of landlords or property managers of HUD-insured and HUD-subsidized housing.

Provides a visor card to help individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing communicate with law enforcement officers if they are pulled over while driving. There are tips for how officers should communicate with the cardholder, followed by options that cardholders can point to indicating how best to communicate (writing, texting, lip-reading, etc.) with them. On the back, there are graphics with one-word labels that officers can point to under “I need to see your” (license, registration, insurance, other) and “Violations.” The last section is “Help” and lists options for cardholders to show the officer what they need (medical, lost, tow, etc.).

Educates the public about alternative, renewable energy sources, promotes investment in clean, safe renewable energy, and works to reduce toxic threats to the environment and human health throughout the state. VPIRG is also the lead advocacy agency for accuracy in labeling, requiring clear and specific disclosure of all ingredients, including genetically modified organisms (GMOs), that go into the production of food being sold in Vermont.

Provides assistance for people who need housing including information and guidance about rental costs; how to select affordable housing that meets individual needs; and how to provide for insurance, utility costs, and other requirements related to paying for housing. Coordinates with other providers in the community to help individuals and families obtain or maintain housing. May offer limited financial assistance with rent, rental deposit, and other payments. Also provides the Rent Right Program, designed to provide participants with the skills, materials, and confidence necessary to find and maintain stable housing. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a Preferred Renter Certificate, which shows landlords that they have made an investment into being a good tenant.

Offers a collection of five step by step video tutorials that help individuals move through the steps of common legal and benefit issues. Tutorial topics include divorce, relief from abuse orders, security deposits, small claims, and social security appeals. Also included is a video overview on what to expect when getting ready for a court hearing.

Offers the services of Certified Recovery Coaches/Peer support specialist, who work both one-on-one with people on all paths to recovery to help them plan and make positive improvement in their lives, as well as with their families. Recovery Coaches also help guide people in recovery to finding resources such as detox and treatment, housing, food, heat, clothing, and transportation, and resources for improving relationships and getting connected with others in recovery with whom they can relate.

Provides a list of resources for older adults living at home. Resources include medical equipment loans, volunteer, minor home repair assistance, and referrals to service providers.

Provides supplemental food for families with young children. WIC also provides breastfeeding support and nutrition education. Participants can get Farm to Family coupons to use at local farmers' markets.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items may be available depending on donations. Also provides Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes. The food shelf cannot provide diapers at this time.

Provides primary police services for approximately 200 Vermont towns out of 10 barracks throughout the state. Troopers perform traditional police services of traffic enforcement and the investigation of crimes, and also enforce snowmobile and recreational boating laws.

Provides character-building and social skills trainings in a Christian environment, with community service opportunities, physical fitness, music, arts and crafts, and a meal.
