Provides monthly supplemental nutrition assistance benefits to low-income households to purchase food. Households in which any person is younger than 65 access their benefit using a Vermont Express electronic benefits transfer (EBT) debit card. If everyone in a household is 65 or older, or receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), benefits are deposited as cash into the recipient's bank account. Expedited benefits are available in emergencies and other specific situations. EBT cards may also be used to buy fresh, local products at certain farmers' markets in Vermont. A list of farmer's markets that can accept EBT cards is available on the website. In addition, 3SquaresVT benefits may be used for seeds and plants that grow fruit and vegetables at any retailer or farmer's market that accepts EBT cards.

Provides comprehensive support services for individuals who need assistance to prepare for, find and retain paid employment. Services include employment preparation, training, development, attainment and support services, as well as career enhancement counseling.

COSAs are made up of citizen volunteers who work with participants to help them learn to manage the challenges of everyday life, be accountable for their actions and become responsible community members. Offers a program where trained volunteers are matched with individuals experiencing loneliness or who are socially isolated. Volunteers typically call weekly for 15-60 minutes to provide socialization and companionship via phone or video calls, as needed.

Inspects and licenses pet sellers, livestock dealers, transporters, and packers. Registers animal shelters, rescue organizations, certified euthanasia technicians, and their facilities. Responsible for State-specific standards concerning permissible exposure limits, lineworker safety, VOSHA/OSHA rules, and Vermont Labor Standards. Employees may contact VOSHA to request information or to file a complaint about the safety of working conditions at their employment site. Whistleblower Protection Program protects employees who raise concerns about safety and/or health at their workplace or participate in other endeavors in the furtherance of occupational safety and health and suffer retaliation as a result. This includes the same protections for employees who report workplace injuries.
