RUTLAND COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
Rutland County Sheriff's Department, a county law enforcement agency, is responsible by statute for carrying out the following functions: transportation of prisoners, mental health workers accompanying psychiatric clients, and juveniles; provision of security at Criminal, Family and Civil Divisions, as well as at the Supreme Court; provision of serving civil process documentation; provision of contracted Motor Vehicle Patrol for specific towns within Rutland County as well as provision of numerous security and traffic functions. The sheriff's department participates in the medication disposal (drug take-back) program in partnership with the Vermont Department of Health.
