Offers peer support for individuals who are having mental health and substance abuse challenges while returning to the community. Tasks may include assisting their peers in articulating their goals for recovery and learning and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, supporting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self help strategies based on their own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.

VAMHAR (Vermont Association for Mental Health & Addiction Recovery) is a non-profit statewide behavioral health organization providing advocacy and professional training, and public awareness and education about recovery from addictions and mental health conditions in an effort to eliminate stigma and guarantee the best possible recovery treatment services. They also provide Suicide Prevention Resources along with the UMatter Suicide Prevention Program.
