The department includes the Board of Medical Practice, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and 12 local health offices. VDH focuses on prevention and promotion of healthy behaviors such as eating a healthy diet, having regular physical activity, and not smoking or abusing alcohol or other drugs.
